In short, cameo characters are characters pulled from other RP dimensions that a RPer does not yet plan to use regularly.
Often, as roleplayers, we enjoy reviving old, beloved characters from previous sites by bringing them onto new ones.
The crossover nature of Inkwell City makes this easier to do. Old characters can be brought over with their original histories and the details of their home universes all completely in tact.
However, as we all know, transitioning an old character onto a new site, no matter how good the match may be, doesn't always work out. The character's old friends may not be around. Old posts that truly revealed the depth of the character will never be read on the new site. It just isn't the same.
The concept of "cameos" is to allow you to easily "test drive" an old character into our universe without fully committing. Simply fill out the cameo application. This short application asks only for a link to the character's bio from the site of origin, a quick summary of the character, a quick summary of any modifications or additions you might be making to the character's story for this site, and a description of any special abilities.
Once the cameo character is approved, you can post as that character from any of your existing accounts. (You can make an account specially for cameo posts if you'd like.) Just clearly mark that it is a cameo post, along with the name of the cameo character, at the top of the post.
If you decide you'd like to regularly use the cameo character, simply make a new account and fill out the general application as you'd do for any character.
